Welcome Back to My Life

Visas are DONE!

June 2, 2010 on 12:48 am | In Education, General, Japan Life, Life | Comments Off

Saori got her and Misato’s immigrant visas in the mail two days ago! We compressed what normally takes 60 days to 3 months into a little less than 45 days! It CAN be done folks, all you need is to be a little bit organized (and anal), detailed in the information you provide, and be motivated by something like love and family. Seriously if you’re not motivated to get it done you’ll slack off or decide some information they wan is not important when, really, it is. So that stressful part is done.

I’m also done checking out of my house, so that’s done for me. Saori and Misato are working on their home too. Once the 12th comes around we can relax in Tokyo for a couple of days before our voyage to the new world.

Of course no time to relax yet, there’s still time to have to find a house in Monterey, find out how schools work for my Japanese only speaking daughter, and get ready to start my graduate school.

No problem.

Time to Catch Up

So it’s good to be back. I took down the site because I knew I would not be able to keep updating it while being in command of my battery.

So here’s the news!
- Last around June I was selected for the Special Education Program in Monterey, CA (2 hours away from San Francisco!). Basically, I will go to a graduate level school for about 2 years. My program is Operations Research. I will then do about a 3 year payback tour, probably in Virginia.
- Last year in August I took command of my own battery. That lasted till this month (May).
- While training in Fuji I met Saori and we started an awesome relationship!
- I got selected to Major around December of last year followed by me buying a Harley in Okinawa. But then I sold it later.
- Of course the two biggest things last year are my brother and my friend Adam getting married. So all in all 2009 was an AWESOME year!
- 2010 started off pretty great. I got engaged (hence the selling of Harley) and married. Yes it was fast, but my PCS move came fast and I just happen to think it was right. We both did, apparently!
- So now it’s crazy! We got the visa request almost complete for her and her daughter. I’m almost done checking out of my unit, I need to get my house in Monterey, CA and figure out how to get the car from TN to CA.
There’s really a LOT more to it than that, but it’s a good refresher of the multitude of things that have happened in the past 12 months. It’s ridiculous how much things can change in a year.
So let’s kick this off right…
KANPAI! KANPAI! KANPAI!!!!
